Hello ISON, Goodbye PanSTARRS

Recommended Posts

These are recent images of the two comets using a C11 SCT with 0.7x reducer and ST-8300M ccd.

ISON image details: 7.5min x3 Lum only, cropped. ISON located in center of image. This comet was very small and shows a faint tail. The nucleus of ISON was about the same size as one of the smallest visible stars in the PanSTARRS image if scaled. Photographed Apr 14.

PanSTARRS image details: 30sec x1 LRGB full size. Only short exposures can be taken as movement of the comet was apparent in a few minutes. Taken morning Apr 18.
