double messiers through the murky skies.

heres some rough sketches done through murky skies last week. not great but ok for reference i suppose.

i couldnt make out the ngc that makesthe leo trio ( i did try honestly)

Nice Rory. The Leo trio were all invisible when I tried last week so you did well just to observe two of them.

cheers donremus. i was really fed up after my last two outings. very poor views combined with lack of viewing oportunities in general has made me think weather to forget practical astronomy and stick to armchair astronomy . but sometimes you need to realise just what a achievment it is to see any faint fuzzy ,when you consider the vast distances involved !

the sketches although not very pleasing on the eye, im happy that i pretty much nailed what i saw through the e/p visually. maybe m108 was slightly fainter than the sketch ,as averted vision was needed .

Same here. Despite a clear night - also found the atmosphere poor for DSO. And could not see even the brighter two - which was a surprise. Must have been dust or something in the upper atmosphere.
