After a trip to a really dark site i really do now need an illumated reticule finder.i do like my standard 8x50 skywatcher straight through focuser so if i could convert it i would do so.otherwise what other straight through illuminted finders are there that arent silly money.

To add-i know skywatcher make an illuminated version of mine,i was wondering if i could convert mine or if there were others that werent too expensive.

How good is your DIY skills? Converting the standard finder to an illuminated one will requires some drilling and tapping for the illuminator as well as making crosshairs. Also, may be you can make an adapter for a rifle scope. There are 50mm illuminated rifle scopes for under £50 on fleabay.

As for purpose built astro finders, the SW is the cheapest on the market (£70). The Vixen and TS versions cost double that.
