UK astronomical component suppliers

Are there any UK suppliers of astronomical objective lens'?

I have Googled but can't seem to find any out there.

You could try : Emerson Optical Co. Ltd., Unit 4, Oxgate Centre, Brent, London NW2 7JA. Tel 0208 208 1599. They have made 4 inch and 6 inch achromatic objectives. Alan Montague was the person to contact.

Jonathan Owen based in Longsight, Manchester ( may have moved ) made objectives, achromatic and apochromatic. Don't know if he is still in business.

Istar objectives seem to be getting favourable reports and might be worth considering given that their prices are pretty competitive at the moment. Their sole U.K agent is Peak 2 Valley Instruments who import them in. There are a number of emerging reviews that praise the quality of these objectives such as this one and this one too. If you are interested in building your own refractor, you might want to read this thread by Dave Gibbons on here who also used an Istar objective lens in his project.
