Knight of Clear Skies

Coin an Astronomical Collective Noun

Recommended Posts

Lots of good suggestions, several of those made me smile.

An optical-inconvenience of atmosphere.

A duck! of meteors.

A mind-<beep> of theoretical physics.

...and now I come to think of it...

A knight of clear skies? (fleeting-glimpse is probably better.)

It's offical. Knight of Clear Skies is Brian Cox and he has run out of phrases for his next series and has come here for inspiriation!

Sorry to disappoint you, but if I smiled that much I think my face would fall off, and I'm pretty sure I've never been in a boy band.

A mirror image?

'A mirror of images' or 'a mirroring of images' works for me.

To be fair to Coxy, he was never in a boy band. His was in the original line-up of Dare (formed by former members of Thin Lizzy), who still tour today. He was on tour with Jimmy Page and Iron Maiden in the US in the late eighties.

Check him out in poodle hair and full leathers in this photo of the band from back in the day: http://www.heavyharm... of the Silence

So, back on topic...

A scrump of Brian Cox fans.

Which one is Brian Cox? Seriously, I can't tell.

Wasn't he also in D.Ream? Not sure how close they were to a boy-band really. I have no problem with Brian Cox, but I think he comes across better when begin interviewed than when he is presenting. Presenting is very close to acting in execution.

Extreme right (I've always assumed) :p

While I'm here... An Aberration of Astronomers?

A faceful of garden spider web

A right ascension of rising constellations

an exploitation of Virgo galactic wonders

A thriving population of imaginary deadly nocturnal wild animals with a penchant for astronomer meat (aka hedgehogs in the undergrowth)

...ever more contrived, I know!

At one of our group sessions there was a "Dobular cluster" at one end and a "cursing of imagers" off to the other end, I was a singularity in between with my EQ mount.

I used to work with a Swiss guy nick named Dib Dob as well. That was because he was always saying it, think it meant tip top or very good.
