Thinking of getting a eq5 (goto) can any one tell me if it will accept any coordinates that i may put in ,that are not in the goto controller(to find double stars) other than whats in the goto controller, if not what system should i look at ,that gives this flexibility..clear skies to all....Steve :D

Hi Steve, check this out............. http://www.opticalvision.co.uk/documents/73.pdf

I recently did a lot of research into this. I eventually after changing my mind back and forth to go for the Celestron C8NGT with the C5GT mount. Not sure if this is in fact a better mount but as I am familiar with the Nexstar handset I felt comfortable with it. The Celestron will allow what you are asking and apparently it is slighlty better built than the EQ5, better bearings in the RA axis for one thing.

Hi Gary have found the celestron c5gt manual on the net ,and from what i read you can in put into the hand set the RA and DEC of any object you wish to look at and it will take you there, and store it for use again, and now all i have to do is get a scope to go on the mount :D clear skies to all

Its a better buy to get it bundled with one of the telescopes Celestron sell it with, if indeed one of them meets your requirements, refractors, reflectors and SCT's are all bundled.

Goos luck with whatever you decide to go for...................... :D

Good point, as I haven't been able to find the EQ5 goto bundled with anything. I am thinking the CG5 - C6N bundle makes sense.
