100% cloud cover all weekend come Monday night and it's Guy Fawkes night and what do we have 100% clear - ALL NIGHT! I cannot get set up early as I have to have fireworks in my backgarden for my kids plus the neighbours! :D

Might try and get things going around 8pm but I was really wanting to try and get decent drift alignment and I suspect since it's the first time it will take an hour or so to get it decent!

oh dont.... i`ve had my kit out two nights in a row now, and it hasnt been powered on once. The issues with smoke from the fireworks, plus the less than accurate weather forecast (Saturday - "clear then fog" means 80% cloud cover, then at 1am a perfect sky after I had packed up, Sunday - "clear" means anything but...)

Its saying "clear" again for tonight, but the Sat pics show a few mottled cloud banks on their way in. At least there will be a slight breeze to clear the smoke quickly...

Oh well... "work from home" tomorrow if its clear tonight, I have a lot of imaging catching up to do...

Can I join in the rant.... On Friday night I decided to set up early just after twilight leaving myself plenty of time for polar alignment. Feeling at ease in the knowlege I had this big fat chunk of time on my hands before I start thinking to myself it's waaaaay to late (early) to be stood out here. I setup all the gear. Rough polar align, finderscope aligned all nice and dandy. I then spend another flippin 30 minutes on drift alignment but this time I get it smack on... 3 mins with the furthest drift being a mere 1.9' :D. I shove in the DSLR, sort out focusing to a pinpoint using ImagesPlus... "aah this is how it should be every imaging session" I thought ot myself. Couple o test frames to check light pollution. (Oh was attempting the Veil if anyone was interested) Then I punch in the exposure times and set her off snapping. It does the first 2 min frame and I look to the East... Oh Carp.. darn patchy cloud rolling in from the North going South! I just hope it doesnt' do the same overhead. Low and behold I get to my 3rd frame no less and patches just get worse and come in over head from North to South. Many Many Expletives were exchanged with mother nature/god/allah and me :D as I unplugged everything and stomped it all back to the shed like a spoilt child thats just been told to get off the computer as its time for bed. :x :D

Frustrating... :?
