Vixen 30mm 2" LV vs 30mm 1.25" NPL

I am aware of the physical differences of the above two eyepieces but how about optical quality? I think the NPL is a newer eyepiece if this matters, but the LV is (was) more expensive.

The LVs are a different design, they use Lanthanum glass, and if the 30mm is anything like my 2.5mm LV, it will be a brilliant and comfortable eyepiece to own. The NPL gets good reviews too. If I were to guess, the LV will be optically better, but a TeleVue Plössl may be better value than either .

I had two LVs and they were very nice indeed (my Pentax XWs now take their place). The eye relief is a constant 20mm throughout the range, and they were sharper than my (Vixen-made) Celestron Plossl.

Where did you hear that from? LV stood for Vixen Lanthanum, if it didn't contained Lanthanum glass, it'd be like Findus beef lasagne.
