Sun filter ?

Recommended Posts

Hi all just got my first telescope a sky watcher 130m and it's been cloudy on the 2 nights since I got it Grrr so frustrating after it being a lovely clear sunny day all day till about 4pm then cloud, So I figured if i'm gonna get to use this telescope before i croak it then I might have more luck observing the sun, All any advice on viewing the sun what filter for above scope ?

Thanks in advance Tony

Buy one ready made or make your own as I did with Baader solar film but do as Freddie says and take great care fitting and testing it before you stick your eye up to the eyepiece, you won't get a second chance (well technically you have two eyes so two chances :) ). The views of the sun are well worth the effort and can help keep your interest alive during the long summer days.
