Crayford HELP!

Recommended Posts

Can anyone help? My Baader 2" SCT Crayford has gone floppy!

What I mean is the focusing knobs and spindle seem to have lost contact with the focusing tube and spin freely while the movable focus tube wobbles around disconnected! Any ideas?

Thanks on advance, Pete AKA Budfalo Bill.

Many of the Crayford type focusers have two knurled thumbscrews on the underside of the main body. The front one nearest the OTA is usually the locking one, the one nearest the eyepiece pushes the driving spindle into contact with the focus tube. Slacken off the locking screw and then tighten the adjusting outer screw until the focus wheels operate the focus tube. Only use the inner locking screw if you wish to lock the focus position.
