lhuchison
Does a telescope stay in focus once achieved on all the stars and objects in the sky?or does the varying distances mean you have to constantly re-focus on all objects?I was just wondering as i seem to constantly re-focus and was thinking it was just me, being picky! Spec-Chum
Your're focusing at infinity so once its set for a given eyepiece it shouldn't need refocusing. You will, more often than not have to refocus when changing eyepieces though.
rwilkey
Hi Leon, I think once you have focused on stars and have got nice compact dots you are focused generally at infinity so little refocusing is necessary when looking at starfields and constellations. However this changes when you want to look at globular clusters and nebulae, where refocusing to home in on the detail will be required. If you have eyepieces in the same range and the same make they will often be 'parfocal', in other words little refocusing will be necessary when changing ep's. So it helps to get ep's in the same series sometimes, though it is not something I have concentrated on, it's all down to your personal preferences and what you like to view. lhuchison
Thank you . Last night I was focused on the moon then went straight to Orion and all in focus, that got me thinking.

Moonshane
I find that there's a slight shift in focus when moving from solar system objects to deep space objects but it might be my imagination. seeing, changes of eyepiece and the eyes of the user compared with another user usually mean a change in the focus position or the clarity so bear these in mind.
