Hello from Brisbane. Don't be in a rush to choose your scope. There are so many out there it can be quite confusing. Do lots of research and if possible go along to a public event run by astronomical society members to have a look through a number of scopes.The best scope is the one you use the most. Welcome and enjoy this fantastic hobby of ours.

Sydney brings back fond memories from 3 years ago, when I spent 3 weeks at the CSIRO. Did some excellent stargazing with 15x70 bins there. The southern skies are wonderful
