Wavesoarer- this was guided but it was blowing a gale and so therefore the stars are not perfect.

Yes I used a Skywatcher coma corrector and NO the camera is not modded yet.

Yes - wow. I tried this with an unmodded DSLR are could barely make Horsey out - that's a very nice result for the kit.

Good stuff. You could easily get Alnitak under tighter control just by doing a softer stretch version of the original. Paste your final image on top of this and then gently erase the over exposed top layer Alnitak using increasingly small eraser brushes.

It is dark where I live at at 1700 meters in the Italian Alps.

I live in the sticks away from the two nearby villages so no light pollution.

Excellent image Simon and I love the blinding light from Alnitak it gives tremendous depth to the shot, if anything I would concentrate on getting rid of the flare spot from Alnitak to lower right of the horse head .
