Star hopping - My 'Easy' Method

I have been known not to use a finder nor even a mount ! Sit on a stool, telescope ( 6" f8 Newt ) across knees with its end on the ground ( helps if you make that the mirror end) and sweep side-to-side as you move up or down till you find it. Works a treat  Dobs ? high tech, who needs 'em. But I promise my next scope will be Go-To, life has suddenly become too short and clouds too frequent to mess about any more

Technology is great when it works, but when it doesn't, you don't want to waste your hour or so (or more) journey, so turn it all off, get out your map, and do a bit of star hopping
