polar alignment

Recommended Posts

Hi there, Im new to polar aligning and could do with some advice as im at present, alittle confused!

First of all, when you have the mount polar aligned with polaris around the circle in the right position, looking through the mounts polar scope, should you be able to see polaris through the telescope eyepiece?

I thought that was the case. I wasnt sure if i had aligned to the wrong star!

Also, if the mount is attached to a permanent pier, and is accurately aligned using a rectical eyepiece, would it still be perfectly aligned say two months later?

Thanks for posting the video.

Over a period of two months, I'm not too sure. There very well could be a significant environment change between the two dates. Especially in ambient temperature. All materials change dimension with varying temperatures and humidity, some more than others. Best to check before starting to image.
