I am glad the programme is going to continue. I hope the "new" presenters Chris Linttot, Pete Lawrence, Chris North and Paul Abel will continue in the same manner Sir Patrick kept it going. Fun to learn from and wonderful to watch as well.

Sir Patrick put the very people he new could carry on his legacy in place and i welcome them with open arms, im very sad that the great man will not be there but we all owe it to him to look to the moon and the skies and do what he wanted us to do and enjoy our hobby that he did for most of his life, three cheers for Sir Patrick hip hip hip hip hip hip goodnight old friend.

Paul,

Many thanks for keeping us up to date. I stayed up to watch the programme last night and it was a very fitting tribute in the way it showed beginners learning how to use their equipment. Sir Patrick Moore had spent his life encouraging others and his closing best wishes were extremely poignant.

Its good that the Sky at Night will continue, its a British institute, one of the best thing the BBC have shown, and for such a long time.

Patrick would have wanted it to continue, his dedication to the show shows that it was the apple of his eye, and i think you have done him proud, you were lucky to have worked with such a great man, long may the Sky at Night continue and your great work on the show will be appreciated by all of us :)

Just watched the last episode of The Sky at night that featured Sir Patrick Moore, anybody else moved to tears? I honestly didn't know how much of an impression the man had on my life.RIP Sir Pat

thanks to all, and long may his legacy continue.

Yes, I did indeed shed a tear at the end.

I also didn't realise that I would be so affected.

I think it's the man's wonderful and quirky writing style that I connected with the most. I think I have owned various editions of the Atlas Of The Universe since I was a child. It's probably one of the greatest books one can buy.

I have always been a fan of The Sky At Night as well. Partially because it allowed me an excuse to stay up late as a kid, but also because it was SPACE.

It i a sad loss indeed. We should all do a little extra this year in celebration of his life. I would like to try and do some 'sidewalk astronomy' at some point this year, and get some people looking at the moon and bright planets in his memory.

RIP Sir Patrick!

Wonderful man, a wonderful Long running series, and a very touching, and emotional final episode.

Sir Patrick can never be replaced, but he seems to have welded a good, and very capable team to

take the Sky at Night forward, and hopefully for another 5 decades.

Good luck to the torch bearers :icon_salut: :icon_salut: :icon_salut: .

Thanks Paul for the update. it was sad to watch Patricks last show but I'm sure you and the team wil continue in his memory. As others have said an excuse to stayup late on a Sunday night before school. I'm talking many years ago.

An inspiration to us all…

Just watched it on iplayer, an excellent programme. I really enjoyed it even though it was tinged with the sadness associtated with the passing of Sir Patrick. I had a few tears in my eyes at the end but I was happy with the thought I now know it will continue and so will his legacy/memory.

Thanks Paul (and the whole S@N team) making Patrick's final episode great. I thought the choice of subjects, both encouraging those keen in getting started and also the summary of the wonderful new world of exoplanets, was spot on for such a special episode. Not to mention the very moving closing moments.

Long may it continue!

I really enjoyed the episode. Even as a newbie to astronomy I was well aware of Sir Patrick Moore and The Sky at Night. No, I didn't go out of my way to watch it, but if I was about and it was on, it was certainly good viewing. No matter what the subject his style of hosting and presenting meant anyone could tune in and instantly engage with the content. That is a very rare thing in a specialist subject such as this. Millions will also have remembered him as the Games Master (lets not close our eyes to this one!) and here again will be another area where he will be remembered by people as having some influence, even if it was more entertainment than educational. I couldn't help but point out to the wife last night how in every recap they showed he sported his favourite RAFA tie, something that touched my wife as she's always had a soft spot for these old boys and what they did. I can remember my mum letting me stay up to watch it one night actually because I was scared of some comet that was close by and I thought was going to kill us all! Patrick made everything seem alright, even to a young boys ears. Very sorry I didn't watch more of his shows.

Per Ardua Ad Astra.
