Finder scope question

Recommended Posts

Hi, I have a Skymax makcass 127 and the finder scope is rubbish (6X30). With it being a 1500mm scope would a Telerad or a Rigel quckfinder reflex sight be any good on it or should I upgrade my finder to a 10X50 instead. Pete

You might just squeeze a Telrad on though a Quikfinder might be easier. However, I'd say that as star-hopping can be quite a challenge with a scope with a narrow field of view then a 50mm finder would probably be easier. Even more so if you could combine the 50mm finder with an RDF perhaps. Used with your 42mm eyepiece (which may actually be a bit excessive) that should make finding targets easier.

I know there are other SGL users who do successfully use a Telrad or Quikfinder with their Maks/SCTs though.
