Thought it polite to say hello to you all.

I've been casually observing the stars for the past 12 years or so. Started off with one of the Helios 150 F8 achromats doing the rounds back then and have been very pleased with it, still use it to this day, although less frequently. A couple of years later I bought a grab and go scope in the shape of a Stellarvue AT1010, an 80mm f6 achro and with the exception of mount upgrades (cg5-gt for example) I've been using old equipment ever since.

Right now I'm looking to get a better quality refractor for my main grab and go use and for decent planetary performance. I'm thinking 4inch f7 is just about ideal, I can shove one on the original EQ-4 that shipped with the 150mm, a hopelessly under-specced mount for that scope, but could well be just the ticket for my visual purposes.

SO that's me, looking around trying to decide what to get, and reading everything and anything in earnest.
