The night of December 13/14 2012 is the maximum night (International Meteor Organisation-IMO) with details here http://www.imo.net/calendar/2012#gem . I've learned over many years of meteor watching, video & photography to take advantage of any clear sky hours available around the shower maximum day.

Murphy continually catches us out. We saw one cloud in a week in Cyprus for the Venus transit- sat over the sun at ingress  .

I saw the unexpected 1998 Leonid fireball shower by checking a previously cloudy sky at 3 am on the night preceding the predicted Leonid maximum. Whoop de doo' had a great few fireball hours  .Hope you get clear skies . Enjoy
