What size eyepiece to take the whole moon afocally

Just tried my new mount for afocal photography and wanted to start with the moon. I used a 25mm EP (which gives a full moon view with the naked eye) but I found that this was more like a 6mm EP view when I aligned my camera up to the EP (without any zoom)

So what size EP will allow me to take full moon shots with this method?

What lens did you have on the camera? This will determine the field of view of the camera.

Its a fixed lens it - says f28 f=554mm if that helps

To answer your question, try a 40mm EP if you have one - that will put the moon into an image with a smaller angular diameter.

Its got a very small lens so is easy to line up and it records in full HD . Captures a great picture but just too magnified

excellent thanks, dont have a 40mm EP but will get one. I also have a camera with a f=6.3 = 63mm lens, would that be better for my purposes?

Also, I'm guessing that the 25mm would be good for Jupiter, Saturn etc?

If it magnifies everything, it is going to magnify the afocal moon too I guess?

Using a web camera mostly at present but there are times when I think afocal with a better camera might be a better option in certain circumstances
