Is it wrong that I just want to stay warm and enjoy my ale?

Sitting here with my "Old Crafty Hen", feet up by a nice warm stove, even though it is clear outside (but bitterly cold and frosty). It would be just my luck if I did get my scope out and then the full moon came up, shortly followed by a huge cloud bank.

Going to be similar this weekend. Great skies forecast but I just can't drag myself to the dark site. I just don't have the clothes to battle -8C with wind in a desert. Anyway, I'll still be gazing but from the roof top. Poorer skies but less chance of freezing to death.

Nothing wrong with a bit of ale on the weekend. Big moon out so targets limited. Plan to get the GRS at 11.30 and maybe the Io transit at 3.30am if I'm really dedicated. Then again......ale sounds good too.

I was enjoying a glass of Old Speckled Hen when I was `inspired` to force myself outside to get a webcam capture on Jupiter ( might have been something to do with avoiding that jungle celebrity stuff on TV ). It was -2 centigrade in the roll off shed, which was rather `refreshing`. Got my fingers crossed that I might get a decent image after all that.

However I had family round saturday for my engagement party and took time showing all who wanted a view of Jupiter. (Those who viewed were suitably impressed) They all stayed out for quite a while (numb no doubt with ale), which verifies how alcohol's qualities can both help and hinder your starviewing

Well I found on Saturday night that the cold was being fought off by crafty drams of cask strength falling over juice , the trouble is that I'm sure some of the things I saw weren't really doubles to begin with

I love how every person you let look through your scope is amazed.

I was also out Saturday night in the bitter cold. I opted for a coffee flask rather than ale though. Maybe in the summer months

I think as you get older,it is less apealing

to spend all night out side freezing when you

can be by a nice warm fire,with a dram.We all

seem to spend loads of dosh, buying gear, but

never seem to use it.I will get it all out

hmm well there is that. I used to do a lot of fishing off the beach but I got fed up of freeszing my bits off into the teeth of a westerly gale, but those were the nescessary conditions. Fortunately they aren't pre-requisites for this hobby or I doubt I would have started up in the first place. lol

Seriously, cold crisp nights are not a problem to me, although doing an all nighter doesn't hold as much appeal to me I have to say.
