DSS which white balance for modded canon 450dslr

Recommended Posts

HI need some help with this,I use a canon 450dslr modded (filter removed). When processing the image you have the option of resetting the white balance on all images if using a modded camera this option is available under recommended settings. However you can go to RAW/FITS DDP settings and select use auto white balance. The images below show the difference this makes both images are as they where after stacking in DSS and applying 18% saturation no further processing was done except to crop.Notice the difference in the star colour also.Would appreciate any comments on this.

THIS ONE SHOWS THE WHITE BALANCE SET FOR MODDED CAMERA UNDER RECOMMENDED SETTINGS

personally I'd white balance based on the colour of a known star in the image, or white balance on something like a white sheet of paper in sunlight, then use the settings you've found to modify the astro-image.
