Kai
Again like the last image, this is practising ready for last in the year.I started imaging at around 5am (sorry i overslept ) and the original plan before i overslept was to go for the Flame/Horsehead , but with only about a hour of imaging time i changed plan to M42 as its easy to see.A stack of 25 frames @ 90 secs stacked in Maxim and adjusted in Cs2 , I added the false colour for something different. This was captured on the Ed80 with A baader 7nm ha filter through a 0.5 reduced Atik16.If i could get rid of the "halo" around the nebula i recon i could pull some more detail out, but this is beyond my processing skills at the moment.Anyway ..........(click to enlarge)And without the false colour(click to enlarge)

Kaptain Klevtsov
Just gorgeaous Kai. I recently reprocessed my data from Feb. and it looked a lot like that. Check it out on Stargazrs if you have 5 mins.Kaptain Klevtsov
FLO
Very nice - lots of subtle detail This is literally only a quick 5 min edit to give some indication of how much you have captured
Kai
Now if i could combine yours and also cut down on the "halo" i recon we are onto a winner
FLO
My edit was only a quick one and doesn't really do it justice. There is a lot more that could be bought out using curves without damaging the shadow detail.
Kai
BTWThe images are open season if anybody want to have a play.If you can get rid of the halo around the neb but keep the detail in the arms then i will buy the first round
centroid
That's a very nice result Steve, and made even better with Steve's (FLO) tweak.Orion doesn't get out of bed that early yet, so you must have had a late night Dave
cygnusx1
Nice capture Kai, just shows you how much extra detail is hidden unless you know how to reveal it...Dark art this astrophotogrpahy, so much to learn :?
barkis
Good Un. Steve, and a good tweak on it Steve Flo. Coming on in big strides now with the imaging. I think the processing learning curve is a steep one, as I will find out for myself in a short while. Ron.
lunator
SteveYou can see plenty of swirls etc in the cloud so there is plenty of detail. Steves quick edit has already shown what can be pulled out. CheersIan

MartinB
No the Ha has produced some nice wispy stuff Steve. Lovely job. I recognize the halo. It's down to dew, possibly on the objective but also could be on the cover plate in front of the camera chip or the filter. Best to keep a duster or something wrapped over the camera to reduce the risk.

FLO
It's already very good. Imagine what it'd be like without the dew 8)
