cresent attempt short subs

hey up,

this taken with the dsi pro II, heq5 pro mount, 70 42 second exposures.

couldnt go long with sub times as just a rough polar align.

looks like it might have been a good shot if i can manage to get up to a couple of minute subs.

you certaimly got all the detail in that image , pity ,on my screen its all pixilated, shame, maybe over done the process a bit, but a very good capture

oh for sure its over processed.

had to stretch it to within a whisper of its life to drag out whats in there

its actually quite a useful image to practice bringing out detail in processing.

its nice to have a natural looking shot, but when your exposure time so short you just gotta play huh.

That's very impressive. You've got some of the fine inner detail which is very dim. The DSI is working very well but more importantly you are doing getting things right.

had another go at processing this one.

I really dont know what im doing in photoshop just now, but ive manage, somehow, to darken the background and still maintain some detail.

I prefer the first 2 I think Mutley, the lastest one is a little too compressed and you have lost some delicate detail. The tricky thing processing the Crescent is that it is sat in a wide area of nebulosity. The whole sky contains Ha emitting nbulosity which partly why the sky stays gray reather than black. If you try to process it out you end up clipping the black point

yep thats fair comment martin, it does look a little too black. I need a happy compromise.

Im no expert on imaging, but maybe try working on the stars rather than the background! The first 2 pictures are better, but the stars seem a bit bloated! If possible sort the stars out and your onto a cracking image ( it already is )!
