moriniboy
Is this barlow a good one, l know the 2x gets good reviews but i've never seen a 4x review
Qualia
As with most things Tal - and Russian optics in general - I've heard nothing but good reports about the elusive x4 but as with the x2 unless it is on the secondhand market I have no idea where you could pick one up. John
I didn't know TAL did a 4x. I've used the 2x and 3x TAL's and they were both good so there is no reason to suspect that the 4x would any anything other than good I guess. It must be more use to imagers than visual observers though, surely ? moriniboy
I understand that it was supplied as standard with TAL 2M's and l have been offered one, might just give it a go.4x barlow on a F9.5 may be just a bit too much with smaller ep's though
jason.p
I've got the TAL 4X Barlow as supplied with the original TAL2. I haven't given it much use so can't really comment on its quality. Worth mentioning though, like the original plossls it's slightly bigger than the standard 1.25 so a standard eyepiece is a bit "sloppy".
moriniboy
Tried it visually last night on the moon and Jupiter, very impressed for the £8 paid for it.I'm going to blacken / flock the insides though as it seems a bit reflective. EuropaWill
I was fortunate enough to pick one of these up at NEAF a few years ago. Mine has excellent optical quality. The receptacle on mine is perfectly sized, no EP slop. Optics are fully coated and the clear aperture of the unit is around 16mm.
