Eyes on the Sky: Nov 5 thru Nov 11

William Herschel had a significant impact on the world of astronomy. He discovered Uranus! (Cue bad jokes here.) No seriously, he did discover - well, sort of - the seventh planet in our solar system. And he observed a number of fun-to-see double stars that you can find and see easily in a small telescope. Check it out here:

Many thanks for a well delivered and informative video - nice to see the wigs budget being plundered again! I Had the privilege in March last year (courtesy of the Herschel Museum) of looking through a herschel telescope which was positioned looking through one of his back windows from his former house in Bath at Uranus, reminding myself that it was only 230 years to the day that Herschel's himself saw the very same view, though admittedly it was not through the haze of the local supermarket car park - but that's progress for you!

Many thanks again David,

James
