Experience from my own garden... Not Si's :D

Finally got to give the SW 127 Mak on its new home, the EQ5 a quick go tonight!

rough polar align ( we're talking guess work here) levelled tripod and see to home position (I actually sound like I know what I'm talking about ) set the date ,time, location etc. Did one star align on Rigel (was in a hurry before clouds came over) goto to Jupiter and wahey, result and it followed it nicely for a good 20 minutes.

must say I'm very happy with this set up that has evolved from what started as an ETX 70 to a Celestron 4se as a grab n go

Jupiter looked good tonight... Happy bunny.

now then, have any of you dodgers got the firmware update cable, I'm on 3.27

Cheers all, see you soon hopefully:D

i've got one for my celestron remote, will that work?

It was about 800 frames used 550 ish, levels and contrast fiddled with in photoshop ... EQ5 kept Jupiter smack bang in middle of frame for ages, well happy

remember I'm a novice and the webcam cost £4 ... yes gor blimey, only £4

Thanks for the encouragement chaps, but I've a long way to go get!

I think I need to...

let the scope cool for 90 minutes,

Work on my focus,

Get a better Barlow,

Learn Registax.

maybe use a dew shield to improve contrast.

cheers :D

Did you mean for that to seem like a poem?

More a sort of to-do checklist Dave...

but the thought of a poem would be my fave...

the next time I post here I'll give it a try...

if the clouds ever part so I see any sky ...

I'm starting to like this, its giving me hope ...

I'm going to go now, to cool down my scope...

:D

Inspired by some recent posts about imaging with 127 Maks I had a go last night...

I clearly still need to master polar alignment and improve my focus and I'm a complete in hoper with DSS and darks / flats but I did shock myself!

I've actually got the ring for about 10 x 30 second subs :D

I know its pants but it is at least recognisable which is more than I expected...

### I know this should be in the imaging section but I'm not ready for that yet... ###

Cheers Si... As you can tell, I'm slowly getting sucked in to this imaging lark :D

Paulus and JamesF inspired me to have a go with their images on a 127 mak / alt az Mount

Maybe we need an Essex cloud dodgers 'not quite ready to post in the imaging section imaging section '
