martin_h
Comet 168P has split so it seems - http://remanzacco.blogspot.it/2012/10/splitting-event-in-comet.htmlSo I thought I'd have a go at it tonight, through the thin cloud.....nothing much else to do!Am I imagining it or is it there? Bright spot at 3 o'clock in my image??
Stargazer Jack
When I zoom in on my iPod, I can see a whiter patch that is about 2 pixels to the right of the main body. IMO, it looks like you have got it so well done

NickH
The split fragment is along the line of motion of the comet, not in the tail, though we suspect there are smaller fragments/cloud in that area too. They were unresolved on Friday using the 2m Faulkes scopes when we made the discovery image of the fragmentation, but we're putting FTN back on it this week to monitor what's going on. Great images btw, I think you have caught a hint of it
