Moonshane
Mick, it's not what you have it's where you go with it!
brantuk
Lol Mick - I wouldn't worry about feeling intimidated - I'd worry more about what you're now tempted to spend on scope gear hehe (Don't worry - we all got adicted the same way and sold our souls to the devil to get the kit)
Moonshane
I'm not addicted! I could give up buying astro gear anytime. honestly.
nightfisher
just been looking through members scopes I dare not get my tiddy little thing out now I have seen those woppers Ha Ha. Seriously Mick, small scopes have just as much going for them as large scopes, some times less is more for a few good reasons
KevUU
just been looking through members scopes I dare not get my tiddy little thing out now I have seen those woppers Ha Ha. I share you aperture envy, but I do really like my tiddler - see here for an example of why. If (ok, when) I get another scope I'll be keeping the ST80 too, for its convenience, for the amazing widefield views (can you fit the whole pleiades in a lightbucket? no you can't) and also for the ability to take on holiday For now I'm still enjoying the scope I have and there's loooooooooads more to see with it, so I'm not in any rush to get another scope anyway - I feel like I want to get all I can out of this scope before I get a bigger one. The stars won't go anywhere so I'm gonna take my time and enjoy the journey
ronin
Read this elsewhere:Someone else's scope is always bigger and/or better than yours. And there is always someone else whose scope is smaller and/or poorer than yours.Very good view of it all.
allcart
I just got an ST80 and love it already. the blurb on this scope says, "better optics than the price suggests" and its true.
onesmallstep
Don't worry about it, if big scopes were the be all and end all of astronomy then nobody would have a grab and go setup! Remember, the best telescope is the one you use.
Velvet
welcome to the asylum, do not worry bout your scope, you will be seeing a large credit card bill soon when you purchase a new one. LOLVelvet
earth titan
Isn't there something about boasting and size being inversely proportional anyway?
VigdisVZ
It's not the size of the ship that matters, it's the motion of the ocean. Still, it's gonna take a while to get to europe in a rowboat. - Bill Engvall, Blue Collar Comedy Tour
