It must be very thin walled at the top. Machined down to let the sprung ring in, perhaps? Virtually every eyepiece I've owned, including Tal ones, have a thick walled barrel, around 3mm, so normally a fall would just mark it, rather than ding it out of shape.

With luck and some 'man hours', hopefully you get it to where it'll fit.

Yes it's "wafer" thin at the rim. I suppose I'm lucky it landed there and not at the lens end. At least I've got a chance of getting it right. At the moment it will go in but needs a bit of a push which moves me off the target I've just spent the last hour trying to find
