Quick question - when would I use an SCT connector adaptor?

Recommended Posts

I have a Williams Optics 2" star diagonal, with it came a short tube with screw threads at either end and a collar, apparently it is an SCT connector adaptor. Only problem is, I'm not entirely sure when I would use it. Between the star diagonal and the SCT scope is a Baader Steeltrack focuser, I assume the connector adaptor is for if I want to connect the star diagonal directly to the back of the scope, but how does that work?

Yes, on any SCT used without the added Crayford, the diagonal just screws onto the rear cell and you use the "normal" mirror focus knob.

(I have a Feathertouch 10:1 knob on my C9.25 and the spectroscopes held on the rear with the SCT thread - works well for me)
