wow that is some picture, beautifully processed, the lower Iso and longer sub times have paid off .

The colours justify using the lower iso, well worth the time put in

Top stuff

I take it that VDB stands for Very Difficult Beggars?

That's a cracking result!

Incredible achievement and a beautiful, aspirational image!

One of the best DSLR images seen on here in my view. These VdBs are indeed tough. DSLRs really do thrive on fast F ratios even more than CCDs.

Lovely processing and nice star colour.

Well, it's an interesting and delicate star field... but blimey - there can't have been a great deal visible in the stack either!

Thanks everyone!

If I had not known that there should be these objects, I would have thrown away all subs.

Excellent pic, and as said with a DSLR, on a vdB, which are difficult and dim.

amazing. makes me wonder how you even knew you were in the right place, and not wasting your time. and how someone discovered it in the first place. anyone else think it looks like a nazgul?

also really nice to see a single sub. those of us who don't image rarely get to see these.

Here is a subframe (20min ISO 200): http://www.distant-l..._16-rohbild.jpg

Hi Thomas

Have you got the raw image file available at all? .. I'm interested in seeing the raw image (full bit resolution) of the sub :) .. The JPG looses all the lower level detail.

I didn't think anyone could produce such high quality images with dslr, especially on a difficult target like this!

I'm really impressed by this, well dine :)
