Every year we say we have never known the weather to be so bad but most of the time it is actually no different to the previous year and we quickly forget our misery when the skys clear.

Unfortunately this year 'has' been unusually bad. The summer of 2012 is officially the second wettest in the UK since records began and the wettest summer in 100 years! It has also been the cloudiest summer on record (since 1980) with only 399 hours of sunshine! We can't help but feel sorry for the new astronomers who joined us after receiving a telescope last Christmas or who bought one after watching January's BBC Stargazing Live series of programs. If you are reading this then you must still have the spark. We salute you :icon_salut:

Fortunately the weather isn't always this bad and the best months for astronomy (Sept-April) are nearly upon us so your patience will soon be rewarded :bino2:
