I for one am glad you didnt zoom in. You have caught yourself one hell of a stunning image.

The internet is lighting up right now with sightings, but yours is the only image i have seen.

Wow what a monster that was - saw it here just south of Sheffield, real long and slow across the sky compared to other 'shooting stars' I have seen

My brother called at 2258 to say he watched it horizon to horizon from a brightly lit town, he reckons it could have been a sat or space debris. Started out as just a green ball low down.

Looking at the image (the only one so far)..........................was it a meteorite or was it a satellite or space junk?

I'm thinking one of the latter but was still uuber impressive and seen by many across a wide area.

I wonder if NASA or others make an official statement.

Language doesn't matter at all, I would be the same, I was the same outside. Went back outside to carry on with my shots, I cannot be bothered though. I'm buzzing from that.

I dispute that this event happened in 2010.

Something happened tonight and within minutes, reports were coming in from all across the UK and Ireland.

Saw this and it was amazing - very large spectacular fireball crossing the sky at approx 11.00 p,m north of Manchester

wow it truely was amazing first time I've spotted anything like this. It had broken up by the time I saw it there was at least 10 separate pieces all leaving a trail.

Given the "curly" shape of the trail, i am thinking that this was some manmade object that was spiraling on its way down and burning up in the atmosphere..............rather then a meteorite.

What I meant was the 1st pic / link contained an image from a website from 2010 hence removed. I'm not disputing a meteor went over tonight I think it's clear from all the reports

Any guesstimates of size from anyone? Silly I know but, we can but wonder. I reckon a large fridge sized Meteor. Hope it wasn't a Satellite after all this.
