SGL 8 - General Questions?

Recommended Posts

Make sure that you the van hire small print, our local hirer likes to charge £900 for even a scratch.

The best car that I ever had was a diesel Vauxhall Combo van, just sheer heaven to load up.

Now it takes an hour to load up !

Nick.

I can just fit my scope tube in the car with the seats folded... And that's a Volvo V70!

Strap the tube to the roof of the car with a cone shaped cap on the front of it.

to reduce wind drag.

That will cause some consternation as you drive down the motorway.   .

With the right tuning you could probably rival a church organ at 55mph..

The 'car camper' must be one of the cars on one of the pitches, please.

Please see http://stargazerslou.../page/sgl8.html

I can't stress how cold it gets.. I'm damn sure that SGL6 got to about -5 and cars get cold quickly.. I suggest borrowing a electric supply and putting a small fan heater...

I am not trying to tempt fate, but what are people planing to do if the weather is bad?

Day visits to Hereford, Ross-on-Wye????

For the last two years I have brought along a pile of DVDs but luckily have not had to use them.

Well, one crumb of comfort is that the mess office are predicting (guessing?) that there might be more cold weather during March. Fingers crossed ey!

UK Outlook for Saturday 23 Feb 2013 to Saturday 9 Mar 2013:

Conditions will most likely start with temperatures close to or a little below average, with fairly typical winter weather across much of the UK. Otherwise, there are larger than average uncertainties concerning most likely dominant weather type, though there are signs that a slightly colder spell may then prevail throughout much of the rest of the period, with more widespread overnight frosts.

Overnight Frosts would tend to suggest some clear periods overnight... Although I dont think I will trust the met office to forecast the weather weeks ahead..

I don't think I would trust the Met Office to forecast the weather 10 minutes ago at the moment...

cold nights and clear days would be good like SGL7. If it's raining we could shoot darks all week ! or play with some timelapse or macro or HDR or a Dynamic Perception Stage zero camera platform or panoramics of the inside of the tent :)

We got as far as the second farm. Beware that samples are free and that the good stuff has be drunk ASAP. We had to sample cider chocolate as well . We also spent loads, which is good for the local producers,

Nick.

Cider trail anyone?

I would like to join that. Beware though - being brought up in Bristol I know from experience that scrumpy cider effects your knees, making tasks such as standing up and walking almost impossible!!!!

I've been to 4 SGL star parties and each time I recall the advance forecasts being rather doubtful at best. At the actual events however I had some of the best viewing I've ever had so I'm not overly pessimistic
