Lunar mosaic from 7th Sept...and a question

Recommended Posts

I took this the other night, but when I stitched the 79 frames together, found bits missing ...is there any mosaic sofware available to allow me to ensure all of the object is captured without any gaps? I thought I had captured it all with plenty of overlap.

You can use EQmosaic to control the mount. Input the parameters for you camera's field of view and the software does the rest. You could also try Imerge. You can leave this running in the background and drag and drop each completed avi into the program. Align each mosaic and you should be able to keep track of the progress.

Another vote for iMerge - I find it really useful (and quick) just to drag 'n drop avi files into it to check alignment as you go.

Now that's a handy feature, thanks Steve.

Very nice mosaic, gutted for you that you missed those few little patches.

I'll be sure to leave plenty of overlap when i give it a go.

Thanks for sharing.

Shame about the gaps because that is a stunning image!

I like MS ICE but only cos it does it all for you!

Yes, iMerge is what I use to "rough out" mosaics in the field. Also, when it comes to creating the composite image, the overlapping areas really smooth out any noise.

Cheers
