My first Sun spots :-) Sept 8th

Recommended Posts

At last after several months and my 2nd Solar imaging session I've managed to capture some sun spots with my Skymax 127 and DFK 21.

This solar lark is certainly hot work and after spending 45 mins under a towel I was glad to cool off. Its so hard to focus on screen as even the towel lets in a lot of light.

Quite pleased with results so far, just going through avis. This is one of the best to date using AS!2 with 1,5x drizzle and 500 frames stacked from 4000 (stacking more seems to soften detail too much).

I've possibly over sharpened the image :

Any critique is most welcome.

Very well done! There is very little wrong with that as the seeing today has been quite hazy and the Sun is notorious for producing its own "boiling" atmosphere. You have good surface detail all over the frame and good focus and exposure.

Couple more images. 1st is the above shot with less sharpening and jazzed up with false colour. 2nd image taken from different part of the sun.

Very nice images. I've tried solar imaging with the Mak and an SPC900 so I quite understand what a pig of a job getting good focus can be.

Well done, these are absolutely superb!!

(why is there no edit feature? you have to be really careful what you type by accident!)
