IC 1396 - The Elephant Trunk Nebula

Not too bad a sky tonight, less milky than recently so I thought I'd have a go at a new object for me. IC1396 is a very large emission nebula in Cepheus and even with my 200mm telephoto lens, I couldn't cram it all in! 15 subs of 300 seconds each, giving a total exposure time of 1 hour 15 minutes through my SXVF-H9C CCD camera piggy-backed on top of my 10" Reflector and EQ6 mount.

lovely one Steve, super wide field, lots of dark matter showing there as well , and the trunk dropping down from the top ,

Doing rogers smaller stars would prob make that dark matter and trunk spring out even more Steve, but an excellent result mate .

Rog

PS now try the Tulip.
