Destination moon.

[MAN or ASTROMAN]

I see from my T.V. guide that George Pal's 1950 film 'Destination Moon' is showing on More4,this thursday at 11.35am.Described as 'laughably dated',I beg to differ (if my memory serves me right).Remember this was made in 1950-didn't the astronomer royal of the time describe notions of space travel as 'tosh',and was then forced to eat his words with the launch of Sputnik1? Anyway the film is worth watching for the inclusion of a P.R. film featuring cartoon character Woody Woodpecker explaining the space project (which reminds me of the cartoon film explaining how the Dinosaurs were re-created in 'Jurassic Park).
