Solar filters..

Hi all

I'm a beginner to AP and certainly solar, but i find the sun an interesting ever changing target.

I have a few filters from DSO AP, and i wanted to see if they can be used with any of the spectrum work with solar.

My main solar set up now is a SW 127. I have a 250p and NEQ6 but to be honest thats my DSO rig and i don't really feel like i need that for solar..

In terms of filters, i've obviously got my Baader solar film for the scope, and then the imaging filters: Baader Solar Continuum, a a UV/IR cut filter, Neodymium filter, and a Ha 7nm narrowband filter.

My question for you is, apart from the solar filters above, are my other filters any use? I'm brand new to doing solar properly so im taking stabs in the dark right now, a lot of what i've read seems contradictory.

Hi,

I use a Baader Calcium K-Line Filter (1.25") which is meant for imaging only. They're fairly expensive, though not nearly as much as a dedicated Ha or CaK scope.

You have what you need for white light, but the others will be of no use for solar.
