Thank you all for the kind welcomes. I've had the scope out the last 2 nights with last night being the best. Yes it is heavy to cart about but if you eat plenty of shredded wheat it's not too bad!

What a lovely instrument a dobsonian is, so tactile and easy to point. I played around with the various lenses that came with the scope but haven't touched any of the filters yet. Basically I found major stars that I know and tried to navigate away from them and then back to get used to it all. Then attemptes to change EPs to zoom in. Fun. Oh yeah, having everything back to front in the eye piece is a real help....not.
