I really am gonna have to get meself a bigger scope and get stuck in to these things better. But for now I'm determined to get through at least one full season with what I have now, and at least find my way around the highlights before I get drowned in the sea of possibilities. But your detailed posts of everything I'm missing are tempting me sorely!

Now on holiday in north Skye, some 25 miles from streetlights. The sky is breathtaking, very difficult to make out constellations,so many stars and clusters. Pegasus is packed with stars in the square.Milky Way is milky and the midges have had enough of my blood setting up to start a blood bank.

Thankfully, they pack up at night.

Nick.

I had completely forgotten about the planetary nebula towards the lower part of Hercules' 'legs'. I tried to find it in the 8" a few years ago but to no avail. Time to try again with the increased aperture.

If you've got the money, go for it! :)
