61 Cygni (Struve 2758)

Was scanning Cygnus last night with my wife and she managed to chance on 61 Cygni (also known as Struve 2758), what a beautiful orange pair, if you ever get the chance, it is absolutely stunning! Truly a 'WOW' moment for both me and the wife, it is south-east of Deneb and we used the Cambridge Double Star Atlas to identify it - was using the wife's Meade DS2090 refractor (90mm), wonderful.

That's Piazzi's flying star, nice and a good binocular target Lot of history with this pair.

Cygnus is one of the few constellations which you can point out to newbies and they get it. Try pointing out the hunting dogs!

Totally agree Robin. I made the decision to view doubles last night and started with the constellation of Cygnus. I also used the Cambridge star atlas and enjoyed the view of 61 Cygni. Used my 4" Astro Tech APO frac with the Nagler 3-6mm zoom.
