Montana
I haven't been on here for a few weeks, I had a lovely holiday, then a busy week back at work but I managed to scrape together a couple of solar viewing sessions at odd times and in between clouds to get a couple of images of this magnificent region.First in my favourite white light (140mm refractor / Baader Herschel wedge + continuum filter / 5x powermate / DMK412012 07 11 AR11520 5x false colour by Alexandra's Astronomy, on Flickr2012 07 11 AR11520 5x by Alexandra's Astronomy, on Flickr2012 07 11 AR11520 3x false colour by Alexandra's Astronomy, on Flickr2012 07 11 AR11520 3x by Alexandra's Astronomy, on Flickrand in Hydrogen alpha (Solarscope SF-100 / 2x Barlow / DMK41)2012 07 14 AR11520 False colour by Alexandra's Astronomy, on Flickr2012 07 14 AR11520 MT b by Alexandra's Astronomy, on FlickrThanks for viewing,RegardsAlexandra

Montana
Thanks Kev and Robin Robin, your pictures aren't that bad! you have a lovely set and a great website I think if you set your camera to monochrome you may get a improvement. Colour cameras really struggle with hydrogen alpha.Alexandra
sologuitarist61
They are so good it makes me feel like giving up solar imaging altogether and just look at Alexandra's. Very well done indeed

DrRobin
Hi Alexandra,I am going to give monochrome a try next time we see the sun. Not sure of the best settings for a DFK31, I have ended up with monochrome images when I wanted colour by using the wrong combination of capture and codec settings. I think I will fiddle with it on a small scope in daylight to see what works best.I am also on the look out for a DMK21, but that might have to wait a month or so.
