I haven't been on here for a few weeks, I had a lovely holiday, then a busy week back at work but I managed to scrape together a couple of solar viewing sessions at odd times and in between clouds to get a couple of images of this magnificent region.

First in my favourite white light (140mm refractor / Baader Herschel wedge + continuum filter / 5x powermate / DMK41

Robin, your pictures aren't that bad! you have a lovely set and a great website I think if you set your camera to monochrome you may get a improvement. Colour cameras really struggle with hydrogen alpha.

Hi Alexandra,

I am going to give monochrome a try next time we see the sun. Not sure of the best settings for a DFK31, I have ended up with monochrome images when I wanted colour by using the wrong combination of capture and codec settings. I think I will fiddle with it on a small scope in daylight to see what works best.

I am also on the look out for a DMK21, but that might have to wait a month or so.
