New 64 Metres Radio Telescope in Sardinia!

Recommended Posts

Hi folks,

for all of you interested in Radio Astronomy, you might be interested on this.

In the Island of Sardinia is being built a pretty nice Radio Telescope, 64 metres of diameter supporting frequencies between 0,3 to 100 GHZ.

The project is financed by the Autonomous Region of Sardinia and the Italian Space Agency.

It will be employed for Radioastronomy, Geodynamics and other space-related matters.

Its management is shared between Cagliari Observatory, the Institute of Radioastronomy of Bologna, the ASI and others.

I think the whole thing is stil not fully operative (the image below is a Live Feed updated every 10 minutes, look at the sky :D ),

but should you spend any of your holidays in Sardinia, you are allowed to visit the site.
