At last some time out under the stars

I have managed to take some more pics using my phone & camera.

There was a gap of 6 hours between the two groups of photos and I hope to be able to show the movement of the terminator.

I'll post them tommorrow.

Cheers

Ian

Here are the first batch of images.

I got home from work a little early and as the kids were round the grandparents I decided this was an ideal time to do some observing.

The seeing last night was only average(5/10) and the transparancy was poor (Mag 2.5). I was due to take some double star measurements but trying to see Mag 9/10 stars was not easy so the results would have been less than acceptable.

Even Mars looked fairly washed out.

I put the scope out to cool down and got myself set up.

I took dozens of images using the 18/12.5/9mm ortho & the 2x Apo Barlow.

I had to be at the Ewell AS meeting at 7.30 so I only had about 45 minutes.

The scope had cooled down sufficiently by 5.30 and I started taking pics.

I went out to the meeting and got back home about 10pm.

The sky conditions were much the same and the scope was still cool (the advantage of having an extension)

I went out again and started taking photos of the Moon again. It was whilst I was photographing the Southern Highlands that it dawned on me that the terminator had moved significantly in 5-6 Hours between the photos. I tried to replicate the earlier photos to show this.

These images are all taken through the 9mm ortho (giving x133 mag)

They are unprocessed except reduce size to fit on the server. I hope they show how fast the terminator moves.

Cheers

Ian
