Willarnold
Hi all,I'm getting a bit stumped. I've just ordered a SCT focal reducer from Starizona for my C11. On their documentation they recommend that I change out the standard 2 inch connection as it's not a pure 2 inch hole.http://starizona.com/acb/instructions/SCT%20Corrector%20Instructions.pdfI'm struggling to find anything. Can anyone recommend any options?Would I need to just install an additional focuser? (not the best as I've already have a feather touch)All ideas welcome Many thanks
Carbon
Either the Baader Clicklock or Astro Physics visual back will give you the full 2" opening you need with this system.
Dunkster
Try one of these: http://www.365astron...pes-p-1910.htmlBy the looks of it, the corrector doesn't look threaded and would be inserted in the clamp in the same way a diagonal normally would. The SCT thread on the C11 and C14 is 3.25", an adapter like the above drops this down to a full 2" like Carbon says - unlike the piece Celestron shipped with mine, which only has an aperture of 38mm, so I expect this would restrict light/FOV when imaging (or using EP with a wider field stop). The smaller SCTs have a 2" thread instead.
Willarnold
Thanks. The Astro Physics visual back looks like what I'm looking for. Would it be secure enough to hold everything in place?I.e. reducer, connector and the camera?
Willarnold
Ok, the Baader version looks Very secure! So this screws into the 3.25 back of my SCT?
Dunkster
Sure does! Very solid connection. I don't have any experience of the AP but it's also highly regarded. Not sure whether or not this would be redundant if you ended up with a Crayford/Steeltrack, as the vb itself is not inexpensive, but worth looking into. m.tweedy
get one of these that screws into the back of the OTA. The focal reducer fits inside it!http://www.firstlightoptics.com/moonlite-focusers/moonlite-cs-dual-rate-sct-crayford-focuser-for-large-325-inch-thread.html
Willarnold
Excellent, thanks all. I'm going to go for the Baader Clicklock. It looks like it's just what I'm after, and nice and secure. Thanks Michael, as I've already got a feather touch focuse on my scope, I was trying to avoid buying another focuser.Kind regards
Carbon
I don't think the Starizona FR the OP ordered fits into the Moonlight focuser.
m.tweedy
if it is this onehttp://starizona.com/acb/ReducerCorrector-f63-P743C805.aspxthen it screws inside the moonlite crayford without any issues. As it happens the OP is going with a Baader clicklock back. The reason I went for the moonlite is that despite having a feathertouch microfocuser on mine I still got some image shift when using the feathertouch alone. I normally get rough focus and fine tune with the crayford as there is no mirror movement with that.
