Great picture. I was watching the NASA feed at the start of the transit last night and they showed an animation of Venus approaching the sun. Stunning.

That's one of the best Astro pics I ever saw...and I've been following apod for years!

The sun is just beyond my ability to comprehend. The sheer size, and figures like the rate at which it converts hydrogen to helium (600 million tonnes per second!!!) just won't fit into my head.

Pictures like that just seem to make it even more mind-boggling.
