a nice night last night so i thought i would try M27.

Now its not in the same league as Martins but i am fairly pleased with it

nice job though Kai , what filter did you use , cus at 60 secs you should have pulled some of the outer regions ,

It's a great looking image Kai. It is a personal thing with me, Where as colour rendered images are splendid to look at, I always feel there is a realism with greyscale that Impacts me more.

Hi Kai , yes possibly , a CLS will do better i would think though, getting those outer regions a bit more mate

That's a good image Kai. All a filter will do Kai is allow faint details to stand out from the sky glow. If you are in a light polluted area a CLS filter will make a big difference on the outer areas but won't be too kind on the core.

Did you do a deconvolution or some fancy sharpening on that image. There is some reticular patterning within the core which looks a bit like a sharpening artefact.

No nothing that fancy Martin.

I just play in CS2 with the levels/curves/contrast and keep on pushing various Noels Tools until i think it looks alright.

Its when you sharpen it too much and the sharpening software sharpens up stuff thats not really there. You can go too far and it gets to look really good, but its all false.
