Which filter?

Hi everyone,

Put this on the end of my last thread but don't know if many people saw it because it was a bit off topic to the thread so will just post it here .

I now have just over £100 to spend on extras when I buy my 200p . I was thinking of a Telrad (£35), some flocking material (£14), some material for dew/stray light shield (£10), some Baader solar film, gets annoying when we have clear days and cloudy nights (£22). I also wanted to buy a filter to enhance views. My question is, for the 200p, would I be better off with an OIII filter, a UHC filter or the skywatcher light pollution filter? All are in my budget so which would you recommend?

I would recommend the UHC filter for nebulae, and then an OIII later for more diffuse nebulae.

The UHC is an excellent first filter. It works very well on emission nebulae.

I prefer the slightly more aggressive O-III myself but that's a personal thing.

As per above, UHC is a great first filter, then an OIII for those (fewer) targets that really stand out with it (like the Veil!)

I vote fot the uhc,great all rounder,I have the oiii filter that to is great with my 12" dob but the uhc gets used the most

I had the same choice and went for the uhc and have not regretted it. On targets it is intended for its a winner.
